You have conquered your home, your house office, and your automobile, and you have mastered the art of scheduling and cooking in serious quantities. But your garage is still a disordered and confused mess. As with the rest, a neat and arranged garage is achievable with just a bit elbow grease and some straightforward storage solutions. First, get a handle on the mess by moving everything out to sort thru what goes and what stays. Large, clear plastic containers will help you do this. Be cold hearted with yourself in the sorting and purging process. Don't keep paint from a project from two years back, and if you have parts to things you now do not have, shed the parts also. Look for units that offer keyed locks, so you are able to store deadly materials and sharpened tools out of children's reach. The garage is also where the majority of your child's's sporting products land. Add a bin or shelf outside to store untidy, muddy shoes also.
Find a workable storage solution for all of the small things in your garage. Organize bolts, screws, nails, fasteners and other tiny parts into small clear boxes so that you can simply see what each contains. Organize into steady stacks or think about installing a shelving unit to house these out of the reach of small and curious fingers. For long-handled items , for example rakes and spades, look for storage units to keep everything straight or try a sturdy rubber trash can.
Pegboards may also be installed on garage walls, and could be a straightforward solution for hanging items like rakes or shovels out of the way. Cheap hooks come in a selection of sizes. Big deep hooks are good for hanging a ladder and bikes can be hung and kept off the garage floor also. Now that you have practiced on your place, your office and your vehicle, organizing your garage is a snap with a little creativity, some difficult work, and a well thought out plan.
